This is a surgical technique which enables us to work on the very small anatomic structures such as the nerves, arteries and veins in the fingers, and may also be applied to the tendons in order to preserve them in the best conditions during manipulation or suturing procedures, thus optimising functional results.
It is necessary to use specific surgical material, magnifying equipment or microscopes, and equally specific suturing wire which is finer than a human hair. This technique is used especially for emergency and reparatory hand surgery concerning the nerves, vessels and tendons.
It requires specialised training in the application of the techniques specific to micro-surgery.
